Fr Russell Pollitt S.J. will give a public lecture on “Ministry on the Margins” on Tuesday 17 July at 7.30pm

In 2013, shortly after his election, Pope Francis said that he sees the Church as a “field hospital”. He said that it was useless to ask someone about their cholesterol and sugar if they were seriously wounded. Many people live on the margins and are wounded and in need of pastoral care – the poor, the physical and mentally disadvantaged, the divorced, those who have suffered the trauma of suicide, abortion and gay people. Fr Russell Pollitt, SJ, will explore what ministry on the margins means and how the Pope’s field hospital image calls us to radically rethink ecclesial life and ministry.

Venue: CK Storey Hall, behind Methodist Church, Main Road, Rosebank, Cape. Entrance and parking via Chapel Road
