Sr Marie Brady IBVM will talk on “Meeting Christ in the least of his brethren” on Saturday 7 April 10h00.

Sr Marie is a Loreto Sister, who came to South Africa in 1960. Until 1992, with the exception of four years, she was involved in teaching in Loreto schools. When the schools were handed over to Lay administration, so that the sisters could respond to the more urgent needs in S.A.  Sr Marie spent two years in Canada retraining for the ministry of Spiritual Direction and retreat giving. When she returned she enjoyed this ministry and has continued to be involved in it since then. She also felt a Call to help those on the margins of society. She prayed about this and in 1996 I received a call from a priest asking if she would become involved in Prison Ministry. “Without hesitation I knew this is what I had been waiting for”.

This was the beginning of the Organization of Prison Care and support Network.  Sr Marie has just completed 21 years in this ministry  where she served as volunteer Leader and Trainer. She is also the leading facilitator for the Restorative Justice Programmes which the network presents in the prisons of the Western Cape.
