Graham was a teacher in the UK for 25 years before training as a psychotherapist, and holds degrees in education and psychology from the University of London and the Open University. He left the Anglican Church to become a Quaker and worked for 18 months at the Quaker HQ in London as the Associate Secretary of the Friends Peace and International Relations Committee. Later he became President of Servas International – a peace and travel organization – and is a Life Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He moved to Cape Town in 2010
