I was surprised by the opening paragraph in the editorial of the Southern Cross of May 27 to 2 June. Is it really true that the central objective of our faith is the hope of salvation at the hour of our death? And that the chief reason for living with Christ is to prepare for eternal life? This surely puts too much focus on ourselves and our own needs. I thought that the central objective of our faith and the chief reason for living with Christ is to love the God whom Jesus revealed to us, and to actively collaborate in God’s mission to bring justice to our world. Am I wrong?
